Poison Elves is a black-and-white comic by Drew Hayes. Drew originally self-published the series under his company Mulehide Graphics, under the title 'I, Lusiphur'. This title was changed after 10 issues to 'Poison Elves', as you will find it in the comic shoppes today. He self-published 20 issues. In the spring of 1995, he signed on with Sirius Entertainment, Inc. He has (as of March 99) managed to get 43 issues onto the shelves at our local comic shoppes since. The storyline revolves around Lusiphur. He is not a hero by the standards of most. He is foul tempered, violent, and has questionable morals. He also, however, has a sharp, sarcastic sense of humor and the complete inability to escape adventure. The setting is an anachronistic blend of the middle ages and curerent day society. The storyline has taken us from fighting trolls, to guild wars, to hunting werewolves. The possibilities for the story are endless. Luckily, Drew has a good memory. The continuity found throughout the issues is amazing. The art is well detailed. I haven't picked up an issue yet that hasn't been completely enthralling. At this point I would like to mention that I am not a comic book collector. I have never understood the need to purchase and hoarde these things. I have never found the art in comic books to be anything special, as a general rule. As far as the story goes, I didn't understand reading a story twenty pages at a time. Why wait a month or more for the next chapter?? This just doesn't strike me as entertaining. I, however, have made an exception to my previous beliefs on the subject. I am 28 and live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas. I work for a bank, as an Operations Specialist for their Customer Service department. I have a roommate and a couple of dogs.
